Good Intentions: The Final Version

Here it is. Someday, if I've downed enough Merlot, I may even sing it and post it on YouTube:

"Diversity" is grand, amis.
That's what I always preach.
So many peoples in the world
And we need some of each.
Our multiculti tapestry has many vibrant strands.
Trudeaupia’s a go here in all thy son’s command.

Chorus:
Because of
Good intentions
In copious amounts.
If you've got good intentions, friend,
That's all the really counts.
Good intentions,
As long as you mean well
No one'll even notice if
You pave the road to hell.

In Gaza people suffer so because of a blockade.
We’re gonna float a boat in; it cannot be delayed.
So what if Gaza's in the hands of terrorist Hamas?
We have such good intentions
That you cannot make a fuss.

Chorus

That DDT it used to be a helpful pesticide.
But Rachel Carson said it’s bad and so it was decried.
The sad result speaks for itself and cannot be denied:
Malarial mosquitoes and the millions who have died.

Chorus

Home ownership’s a "human right"
For each and every one.
Poor or rich entitled to our own place in the sun.
Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac
Both had a good long run.
Now folks are in the poor house
Because of what they’ve done.

Chorus

Free speech they say's the linchpin of a free society
But there are those who loathe
When you speak so-called "blasphemy."
The censors say, “Please hold your tongue
And promise to be nice.”
But politesse sans freedom
Comes at too damn high a price.
Yes, politesse sans freedom
Comes at too damn high a price

Because of
Good intentions
In copious amounts.
If you've got good intentions, friend,
That's all that really counts.
Good intentions,
As long as you mean well
No one'll even notice if
You pave the road to hell.
No one'll even notice if
You pave the road to hell.
