Stealth of a Salesman

All summer long America has been abuzz with chatter about Imam Rauf and his plans to build a high-rise mosque in the 9/11 neighbourhood. Not that the imam has been around to hear any of it. He's been far too busy, jetting off to sundry parts of the Arab world on behalf of Barack "Not a Muslim" Obama's State Department. Which is kind of strange, really, because the Arabs he's been visiting appear not to care about the edifice (or so Reuters reports), whereas Americans have yet to be sold on it. You would think the imam would want to hightail it back home, to get back to his sales pitch. Or is the fact that he seems to be in no hurray at all a sign of his confidence that the mosque is in the bag (so to speak), and that he knows no further selling is required?
