Thanks For the, Um, Clarification

Barack Obama wants to see an end once and for all to "anti Muslim sentiment." And just to show that, Oval Office-wise, nothing much has changed since George W. Bush assured his countrymen--stunned, bloodied, terrified, but most of all, at a loss to explain the violent malevolence that had been unleashed on them on 9/11--that Islam is a "religion of peace," Barack Obama does his utmost to perpetuate the falsity:
"Tomorrow we as Americans are going to be joining them in prayer and remembrance," the president said. "But I go back to what I said earlier: We are not at war against Islam. We are at war against terrorist organizations that have distorted Islam or falsely used the banner of Islam to engage in their destructive acts.
As if violent jihad as a means of spreading the sharia wasn't the M.O. of Islam's founder, indeed, the reason for his incredible success. As if Islam has advanced all these centuries not via pillage, rampage and rapine, but by taking a Jehovah's Witnesses-type approach to things--knocking on doors and handing out religious tracts.

Nine years on and America's elites are no closer to understanding Islam 101, warts and all, prefering to truck in delusion instead of reality, fairy tales instead of the truth. That doesn't mean, of course, that the great unwashed, the people whom they hold in such great contempt, are prepared to swallow it. If nothing else, the Tea Party movement and the backlash to Imam Rauf's trickery is evidence of that.

I see it as a willful blindness caused by their self appointed moral superiority to 'us'.
