Izzy's Dream Turns into a Nightmare

In a letter to the Toronto Star, Davidson Howard nails what went wrong with the "human rights" mausoleum:
The problem began when Izzy Asper had to compromise his dream of creating a Holocaust museum in Winnipeg in order to qualify for government support. The Asper Foundation has attempted to salvage this dream by nestling a Holocaust museum inside a human rights museum. The conflict this created cannot be resolved by dismissing the sincerity and significance of critics.
Exactly. The project should have died a quick death when the Holocaust museum was nixed. Imagine how much angst and money would have been spared had wiser heads prevailed at that stage. My one suggestion for how to "save" the behemoth: hand it over to the Madame Tussaud's company. It's had lots of experience running Chambers of Horrors.
