The TDSB Celebrates International Women's Day (Just Ix-Nay on the TDSB Osqueteria-May)

It was International Women's Day this past week, an event that's right up the Toronto District School Board's alley:
Each year, the world celebrates International Women's Day on March 8. It's a day to recognize women's ongoing struggles against discrimination and exploitation, and to focus on the enduring need for global equality, democracy and peace. 
In celebration of International Women’s Day, more than 400 TDSB students came together yesterday to explore and discuss issues facing girls today. At the conference, organized by TDSB’s Young Women on the Move and Plan Canada’s Because I am a Girl initiative, students heard from a variety of guest speakers and mentors, including Olympic wrestler Ohenewa Akuffo who shared her story in a moving and inspiring presentation.
