Farzana Hassan: "Hamas Must Abandon Its Hatred Of Jews"

She read something by Tikkun magazine's Rabbi Michael Lerner--yikes!--and urges Palestinians to follow his advice and find a way to effect a "true reconciliation" with Israel:
The onus to change the discourse therefore rests more on the Palestinian leadership — especially with Hamas.
Instead of the well-practiced, unproductive dogma of vitriol whenever a conflict erupts, the leaders of Hamas should consider a fresh approach that may lead to Lerner’s notion of true reconciliation.
They must begin by acknowledging Israel is here to stay and cannot be “driven into the sea”; that Israel can be a partner in their own progress, as it has been with Jordan; that their lives and the lives of their children will improve drastically if they pursue a path not of inveterate hatred, but of peace and reconciliation.
If Palestinians acknowledge Israel’s right to exist, they will find Israel will turn out to be more of a friend than a foe in their quest for lasting peace and prosperity.
Alas, it will take a long time for any such view to prevail...
Alas, such a view will never prevail with Hamas because its animus originates in Islam's holy texts, the Koran and the Hadith. And for that matter, so does most if not all of Muslims' Zionhass.

Update: Lerner has not only written an article about an Israeli-Palestinian "reconciliation," he's come up with an entire book on the subject. And you don't have to read it to know it's a bunch of errant nonsense. All you have to do is look at the names of some of the folks--egregious Zion-loathers, the lot of 'em--who have endorsed the tome. Ready? The list includes: Avrum Berg, Keith Ellison, Jimmy Flipping Carter, Desmond Tutu and Uri Avnery.

Obviously, Ms. Hassan didn't do any digging before citing Lerner as someone to heed. Has she bothered to do so, and had seen who his fanboys are, she might have hesitated before lending credence to Lerner's no-jihad-to-see-here/join-hands-and-sing-Kumbaya "solution."
